the california food diaries

Hiya!

How are you doing? Things have been a little quiet on the blog front since I’ve literally just been at my parents’ house being a ~potato~ and it’s honestly been so nice. These days remind me of those high school, 2-week long winter break vibes when everyday just starts to blur together and you have no idea what day it is. Staying up late watching movies, not waking up until well after the sun rises, taking a midday nap after lunch… so relaxing.

Anyway, I thought I’d share a little food diary today with what I’ve been eating while at my parents’ for the past 2 (!) months. I’ve been cooking practically 0% of the time (lmao perks, amirite?), and we’ve been getting a lot of takeout. Enjoy!

homemade dumplings! highly recommend making the dough from scratch (not pictured here)
my mom’s taiwanese beef noodle soup (the only meal I’ll now eat beef for)
some days, lunch is just dino nugz. one of those days.
i had to try the infamous crumble cookies! they were good but i have a hard time justifying the price lol
my older sis loves baking – chocolate & cream cheese marble muffins!
my classic breakfast – brought back the everything bagel + vegan cream cheese combo!
some dinners were v simple – naan, salmon, and salad.
wontons with spicy sauce – absolutely spectacular and always what i order from din tai fung.
my twin makes siiiick ramen. so good.
nacho night! my family hates the texture of vegan cheese, so here i am breaking my own rules πŸ™‚
my sis and i LOVE sundubu jjigae (korean spicy soft tofu stew), and she’s so good at making it!! #blessed
we bought a cake for thanksgiving dessert! i didn’t love it but the aesthetics were nice.
mala noodles with pork & scallions – freaking delicious.

I hope I didn’t make you hungry! πŸ˜‰ I certainly broke a lot of my ‘vegan’ rules but that’s what I get for eating whatever my family wants to eat I guess, lol.

I’m planning on posting a few more end-of-the-year blog posts pretty soon here – keep your eyes peeled! I hope you’re having a restful holiday break so far and staying safe and healthy!!

Thanks for reading,
