my first time back @ the office since starting my job!!

Hi y’all!

How have you been? I hope everyone’s looking forward to the long weekend and has some MDW plans lined up. H and I were supposed to ferry to one of the islands nearby, but the weather today isn’t looking too hot, so we’re rainchecking it to a hotter day later in the summer.

I wanted to swing by the blog today and recap my short (but so sweet) visit to the office earlier this week! I think it’ll be so fun in the future to read and look back at this post. While my firm isn’t technically phasing people back into the Seattle office yet, there are certain tasks we have to do in-person due to the nature of the work (i.e. paper-filing tax returns). I was summoned and I was happy to go in since I am fully vaccinated! This wasn’t my first time at the office since I had interned two summers ago, but I was still so excited to step back into this space.

The whole experience was surreal to me: I worked-from-home for the first part of my Wednesday, ate lunch, got dressed, and then caught public transit to the office. It felt so strange to pack a “work bag.”

There was surprisingly more people out and about, but no one else was really inside the office. I only ended up seeing two of my co-workers that I was directly working with that day – it was super empty. One co-worker I had met already during grad school pre-pandemic, but my other co-worker was one I had only talked to via Zoom calls; it was so strange seeing how tall he is hahaaha (he probably thought the same at how short I am IRL).

I got to reserve a little room for the rest of the time I was in the office that day, and it was so fun just to sit in a ~professional setting~. Overall it was just so surreal and I had a grand ol’ time. Absolutely cannot wait until everyone can be back in the office!

I’m sure I’ll return to the blog in a few days with a MDW recap + everything I read in May, but I hope y’all have a spectacular holiday in the meantime!!
