But life is life

I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to talk about this again this year, but here I am.
It feels like every couple of months or so I have to make a post about being too busy with school and having to take a mini-hiatus from the blog (or a hiatus in general). And I really hate writing those posts because they just make me feel so guilty! This past week was the first time in like everywhere I left the blog empty and didn’t work on any posts. You may have noticed that I’ve hardly commented on other blogs since I’ve started school again, and I hate that. I love interacting on different blogs, and it pains me to not be able to talk to you all about the content YOU guys are sharing on your lovely blogs.
But life is life, and school is the biggest factor right now. I’m sure many of you guys can relate to me at this point in time. I’m a junior in high school, and when they say junior year is the worst, they are NOT lying. I’m taking 6 IB classes, along with studying for SATs, ACTs, dance team, and being on the leadership board for my school’s two biggest clubs. (Thank god I’m not in a relationship right now). With this huge overload, I only have 3 As out of my 7 classes right now. The whole point of me taking so many IB classes was to get a higher GPA (and school rank), and with only 3 As, it’s not going to do much. I’m busier than ever before, but I know I want to make time for things I love. I made the mistake before of quitting blogging because of how busy I was and soon after figured out that I simply couldn’t live without it. I want to make time for blogging and reading and talking to awesome book lovers.
What I’m trying to say is, I’ll still be blogging. No matter what. However often (or not often) it may be, I’m going to push through. It’s something I love and I don’t want the stress of school to steal it away from my grasp.
In other news, I tried something new last week. I never thought I’d do this, but I started writing just this past week. If you all don’t know Willa from Willa’s Ramblings and Lit Up Review, she’s one of my best blogger friends and she’s a writer. I’ve read her past work (and am currently reading her WIP now), and it’s honestly phenomenal how great of a writer she is. She kind of.. Inspired me to give writing a go. I’m not saying that I’ll be writing everyday now or participate in NaNoWriMo, but I think it’s just cool that I gave writing a shot and kind of liked it. It was totally a relaxing experience and really fun to create characters that you’re already really attached to, when their story isn’t even written down yet. I think when I have time, I’d like to continue my story.
So that’s me for now. How are you handling this wild and precious life?

The struggle of high school is intense. I'm not quite as busy as it sounds like you are, but I still feel like each part of my life is pushing and shoving for attention. But WE CAN DO IT. And soon it will be winter break. 🙂

Also, it is so awesome that you have started writing. I'm ecstatic to cheer for you as well as Willa, and even more excited about the possibility of reading a finished book by you. (Not that you should feel pressured to publish-it's just as fantastic to write only for yourself.) Good luck with school, writing, and everything else! <3

Aww I know how difficult it can be to balance things you love doing and things that you need to focus on. I know that if I was still in school, I wouldn't be able to read or blog at all, so I seriously admire you girls in being able to do both. I look forward to reading your future posts whenever you are able to post them, Good luck with school Jen! 🙂

Aww, I totally get you Jen. I'm in college right now and there's just SO much pressure for me to get A's too, especially with Asian parents. I've been so busy lately that I too want to take a blogging hiatus. But like you said, life IS life.
I hope you get all A's in your classes Jen & good luck in school! (:

I feel like I take a lot of breaks from blogging too, but sometimes it's definitely for the best. I've decided I'm going to approach blogging a little differently in 2014 and only post when I absolutely can, rather than forcing it all in. I wish you the best of luck with your studies, Jen! And writing! That's so cool. I hope you continue to enjoy it. 🙂

I hear you, I've been so busy with school this fall! However, that is NO reason to feel guilty! Life happens, blogging isn't necessarily our top priority, and that's okay. Stress less and keep writing! Glad you're enjoying it!
