everything i read in september | 2021

Hello!!

Happy OCTOBER. I absolutely love October and seeing all the leaves change in Seattle! The weather has been really rainy this past week and it’s just so cozy.

Anyway, it’s time to recap what I read this past month! Buuut voilà!! I only read 3 books! I still haven’t gotten back on my audiobook kick since I stopped in August, and for the second half of the month, I’ve been making my way through Dune, which is nearly 900 pages (and I’m sooo close to being done). I’m reading it in preparation for the movie, which is coming out in theaters and HBO Max on 10/22. I’m hyped because our boy Timothée Chalamet is starring in it and I’m a biiig fan. Anyway – onto the super quick recap!

TAKE A HINT, DANI BROWN by Talia Hibbert

Fake-dating trope with a queer PhD student and ex-rugby player. Just as fun as the first book in the series, which I read last month! Again, I love the variety of representation that’s included in Talia Hibbert’s novels. There were less Brown sister appearances in this one, but I still had a great time reading this one!

ACT YOUR AGE, EVE BROWN by Talia Hibbert

Your classic enemies-to-lovers trope set primarily at a bed & breakfast. This last story in the Brown Sisters trilogy was probably my least favorite because the plot was slightly less believable and the romance was pretty fast. However, that’s not to say it wasn’t enjoyable! Still a good time.

THE NAMESAKE by Jhumpa Lahiri

A father and his wife immigrate to the US and name their son after a Russian author. This book is the star of the month and definitely one of my favorite books I’ve read all year! My older sister recommended it me and I was very pleasantly surprised. The story isn’t necessarily gripping, but it had a huge impact and resonated so much with me. I think it particularly resonates with readers who are immigrants or have immigrant parents. Jhumpa Lahiri is a fascinating storyteller and now I can’t wait to read her backlist.

That’s it for September! For October I love reading only spooky novels, so I’m hoping once I wrap up Dune it’ll be spooky szn reads only. Stay tuned!

Thanks for reading,
