days in my life during busy season | 2021 tax busy szn

Hi you guys!

How was your week/weekend? Last week was an overall great week for me. I can’t put my finger on why but I was consistently in a good mood every day. I feel like getting my solid 8 hours of sleep every night is doing the trick, but who knows? My spring allergies kicked in earlier last week… kind of grateful again that we get to work from home and don’t need to go outside/commute. Anyone else in the same boat? hahha my spring allergies get BAD I’m just snotty all the time – the worst.

Today I wanted to hop back into my tax busy szn series (here’s part one!) and share what a day in my life for a week looks like. If you know me, you know I love schedules and routines (I shared my day in the life of an aspiring CPA a few months back). I’m going to try my very hardest to stick to this schedule so I don’t go crazy for the next month and a half. So far, so good!

This schedule is so satisfying for me to look at, haha. For the most part, my Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays look pretty similar, and then my Tuesdays and Thursdays resemble one another. Depending on the weather (Seattle rain, hello), I’ll switch running and yoga to different days, but alternating exercise days helps with my hair-washing schedule lol.

It looks like I’m working a lot, because I am, but I’m also setting boundaries!! I’m trying to make myself hard stop at 9pm every week-night in order to start winding down for bed (i.e. meditating and then reading for 15 minutes). I have a feeling there might be a couple days later in March where I’ll have to work past 9pm, but let’s hope that day never comes!! My rule is that if the deadline isn’t tomorrow morning, it can wait. And to remind myself that the world will! keep! spinning! Sleep is just so important to me <3

Meal times are also when I am completely disconnected from work! I don’t know if you’re like me, but I canNOT eat and work. If I do so, I usually end up extending my meal to like… 3 hours. And my food gets cold :/

It’s pretty common to work on Saturdays during busy season, and it’s just better to be online when other people are. I’m setting my own boundary to give myself Sunday to 100% recharge and self-care. Sunday’s routine is definitely more of a free-for-all depending on what I’m feeling, but I do fit in all my grocery runs, errands, and cleaning/chores.

I’m not perfect: every night after I meditate and read and get ready for bed, I do scroll through my phone in bed until 10pm – then it’s a strict lights-out for me. That way, I still get a little more than 8 hours of sleep before my 6:30am alarm.

What’s your schedule currently (if any)? I love hearing about people’s routines, idk why it’s so fascinating to me haha.

Thanks for reading, as always! Hope everyone’s hanging in there! <3
